As part of our in-service training module "Smart Systems Engineering II", the participants were allowed to take part exclusively in the online workshop "virtual commissioning" of the company ISG Industrielle Steuerungstechnik GmbH.
In the one-day workshop, the participants learned about the advantages of virtual commissioning in the development of production plants and in which areas it is used. For this purpose, they modeled the digital twin of a transfer system with the simulation platform ISG-virtuos 3. The different modeling possibilities were shown and how the modeling effort can be significantly reduced by using validated component models. To demonstrate the importance of a real-time capable simulation model, the digital twin was then connected to a virtual control system and tested in a software-in-the-loop simulation.
